20.4 x 14cm double framed and glazed miniature with text. 20th Century. We think this perfectly splendid little scene, with its grandly caparisoned horses and cheerful looking lions, is probably Central Asian, perhaps made in Bukhara where excellent miniature artists continue to work today.  As usual the text is almost certainly nothing to do with the painting but merely showing the standard re-use of old texts for a new purpose, but we are working on a translation, and of the integral inscription.
