A very good copy of this glorious book which may be meant for children but is likely to give double pleasure to their adult relations. Most importantly it explains what really happened to the dinosaurs and what Mr and Mrs Noah did later, and their sons.

Eleanor Freda Derrick 1892-1969) was born in Cheltenham and studied at Cheltenham School of Art. The Ark Book was first published in the 1920s but there is no indication when this copy was printed. It is inscribed, rather formally, ‘To Peter Hodson from Mrs Robert Miller March 15 1938’. The book has colour printed illustrations, with text, on one side of each leaf, folded and bound accordion style. Bound in publisher's grey boards, the front with a large colour printed paper panel, grey cloth spine, plain endleaves and edges.  The edges are rubbed but the spine and leaves are intact.

We have just acquired another of Freda Derrick’s books in the same format, A Day in Animal Town and will be adding it to the website shortly.  Sadly, her Gothic Wanderings in Somerset is a more grown up book –  with a title like that, you would think there might have been scope for a similarly illustrated version.
