Identified as a 20th century Nathdwara School pichwai from Udaipur, Rajasthan, by Dr Giles Tillotson, Consultant Director Maharaja Man Singh II Museum, Jaipur.  Attribution to a specific Nathdwara school or artist is difficult with this traditional form of painting but individual artists have developed  different styles and this  is very much in the style of Ramesh Chandra Sharma.
 
Nathdwara pichwais were traditionally made as backdrops for the image of the god Srinathji, a form of Krishna, in his temple at Nathdwara. In the 20th century local artists began to make paintings in the same style for sale to tourists, often in scaled down, suitcase friendly, sizes.

There is some slight damage to the right side of the painting where it may have been folded.  Ideally it needs re-framing, but we think the buyer should decide what they would like to do. The picture is large but not heavy and could be carefully hung as it is in the meantime.
