In his recent book 'The House Divided', Barnaby Rogerson writes words to the effect that nothing of any beauty came out of the Qajar empire (1789-1925) and particularly if that period was compared with the dazzling and refined achievements of ealier Persian empires.  Nevertheless, instantly recognisable Qajar paintings are in huge demand on the art market for their straightforward depictions of power and wealth in powerful and unique imagery.  This early 20th Century dancing boy, an image regularly used in slightly varying forms, arrived with us with frayed edges and looking slighly the worse for wear but carefully placed in this handmade gilded gesso frame by the specialists at QED framers, we think he looks spectacular and could hold his own in any setting.
